My favorite character in the story was a mysterious figure named Midnight. He is a brave but humble lieutenant to a prominent underworld businessman. Souljah eventually wrote a book inspired by this character. The Coldest Winter Ever is full of twists and turns and getting out of jams right to the end. I think Zane opened it up for authors like myself to feel free expressing sexuality in greater detail and with more passion. Zane’s writing takes you on a wild ride with the main character Zoe. The narrative depicts how Zoe’s life shaped her approach to intimacy and caused her to make a series of terrible decisions. I loved the way Zane led you through Zoe’s self-discovery. There is a movie, but I promise the book is better.

Very different from what I was used to reading but it left an impression. The sisters are all dealing with crumbling relationships at various stages. As a reader you will devour and turn the pages quickly as you uncover the ways in which these women handle their love woes. Dickey came on the scene with a true page-turner.
